A critical vulnerability has been discovered in the XZ compression library, versions 5.6.0 and 5.6.1, posing a significant risk to servers utilizing sshd. This flaw potentially impacts several widely-used Linux distributions in containers and embedded systems, including SuSE, Fedora, Debian, ArchLinux, Gentoo, and Alpine Linux. Exploitation of this vulnerability allows unauthorized root access through a specially crafted key. Immediate actions and remediations are advised to mitigate the risks associated with this security flaw.
